So, your probably wondering what is the GREEN
sippy cup. I thought that plastic sippy cups were a safe route to
take for the environment and for my child. WRONG. Well almost
wrong. Most sippy cups contain PBA which is a chemical used to
harden the plastic. This chemical can leach into the liquid that is
in the cup, and therefore, into your child.
There are some sippy cups that do not contain PBA:

If you have to use a plastic sipppy cup, or bottle be
sure to check the recycling numbers. Although these are not definite
for PBA they are a good guide line. 1,2 ,4 and 5 are okay to
use.
Recycling numbers 3, 6 and 7 are not recommended.
If you do have to use these be aware that there are things you can do to
increase the chances of toxins leaching into the liquid in the cup.
Do Not:
 | Use scratched or worn plastic containers
 | Heat food in plastic containers
 | Place hot food in plastic containers to cool
 | Heat foods covered in plastic wrap
 | Wash plastic containers in the dishwasher |
